We will gladly put together an individual package or gift to suit the occasion. We offer a number of different massages as explained below. If you are unsure of which massage will be most suitable, our friendly beauticians will gladly assist in your choice.

Deep Tissue Massage

At Vitality a Deep Tissue Massage is specifically designed to relieve moderate to severe tension in the muscles. This type of massage is recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain or who have a physical or stressful lifestyle from athletes to city centre office workers.

Deep Tissue is a separate category of massage therapy which can be used to treat a number of disorders, complaints or muscle imbalances. It uses a specialised set of techniques and stroking methods to achieve a measure of relief for each individual client. A Deep Tissue Massage is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of the skin, muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissue structures alleviating any stress, tension, knotted muscles or muscle imbalances.

Unlike a classic massage which are usually performed for relaxation purposes, a Deep Tissue Massage is focused on specific problems and troubles. Therefore it is ideally suitable for people suffering with:

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy Massage combines specific massage movements with highly concentrated plant oils known as essential oils. The essential oils used will be individually designed by your experienced therapist so you gain the most benefit from your massage, whether you are looking for deeper or more regular sleep patterns, a stress relieving massage, or a relaxation massage to name a few.

When you inhale essential oils, messages are transmitted to the limbic system which aim to positively affect your heart rate, reduce stress levels, normalise blood pressure, improve breathing rate, improve and increase digestion, sharpen memory, and benefit your immune system. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin to specifically work on the areas being treated. They also provide a perfect medium in which your massage can be performed. All essential oils have different properties, for example, chamomile, lavender and geranium oils are calming while ylang ylang, clary sage and rose oils are uplifting. Combined with these individual oil combinations, aromatherapy massage uses specific techniques to provide the best outcome for the client, from effleurage, gentle stroking, petrissage and tapotement.

Aromatherapy Massage is available in full body or just the back neck and shoulders. It is particularly suited to conditions involving stress, improving emotionally or hormonally related conditions such as headaches, digestive disorders, PMS and back pain.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the most well known massage. At Vitality this type of massage is available in full body, or back neck and shoulders. It involves your therapist manipulating the body with specific pressure. It is known as a very hands on, firm massage. Your therapist will use five different massage techniques, effleurage (sliding and gliding), petrissage (Kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (Cross fiber) and vibration.

Swedish Massage was originally established on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to energy work in more Eastern countries. A Swedish Physiologist Per Henrik-Ling (1778-1839) at the University of Stockholm pioneered the specific techniques and so the Swedish Massage acquired its name.

This type of massage is loved by many people. It is suggested that if a person is new to the luxury of having massages, this is recommended to be the massage of choice. There are many benefits of a Swedish Massage, including:

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practised in India for over a thousand years. This type of massage is used to release the stress that accumulates in the tissues, muscles and joints around the head, face, neck and shoulders.

The specialised movements in this massage include deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulders and scalp areas. Your therapist will also gently use certain pressure relieving points on the face.

There are a wide variety of benefits from having regular Indian Head Massages. These include:
